Nerieda II is a narrative piece that tells the tale of a celestial beings maiden voyage. Nerieda, depicted here in her second summer, is painted twice- once under the water, and again standing Tall amongst the Mighty Waves.
The divine Tri-ad depicted here is 1. Light, 2. Renewal, 3. Re Birth.
The Re Birth process also illustrates the importance of friends (support system) during the re-birth process. Good friends are key to a woman's re-birth process.
Jersey City artist Carolyn Light, created this reactionary song as a response to "Nerieda II". Listen Here.

Venus and Mars, Re-interpreted
This original painting, "Mars and Venus" painted by Sandro Botticelli in 1485, in synchronicity with "The Birth of Venus", was painted to commemorate a wedding.
It depicts Greek the allegory of beauty and valour. A classical tale of Venus, The Goddess of Love, and her romantic conquest over Mars, The God of War, who is happily at ease.
In 2008 I choose to re-create this, hand stretching this canvas to the exact size as the original, (2.2' ft x 5.675' ft long). The Venus featured here is a modern take on the original.
What I like about Sandro Botticelli, is that during a time of highly prominent patriarchal art- he choose to highlight the Divine Feminine, I figure that had laid dormant since the fall of the Greek Empire, and brought her to the forefront in a very impactful and controversial way.
I painted this piece over the course of a year (2008), and is the only one in this collection, painted entirely in Oil.

You are Golden, You are Pure
"You are Golden, You are Pure" is representational of a woman letting go of something she once loved, but has realized is no longer healthy for her.
She is in agony over the partition of this relationship.
The golden light glowing with-in her womb is representational of Divine Light, and spirit renewing her. The white being above her head is The Father's presence shining down on her.
She is depicted here in a time of self-actualization.
The Death of Nerva
This story parallels the story of Shiva as "Nataraj". The depiction of Shiva as Nataraj, Lord of the Dance, began in south India in the 9th and 10th Centuries. As the tale goes Nataraj, Shiva crushes Apasamara Purusha, the demon of ignorance and forgetfulness, under his feet.
Here, the blue goddess, (manifestation of Nerieda) on her quest- encounters her former self, "Nerva", or Fear/Ignorance. She is painted here at the moment where she must destroy her.
2015: "Although we tend cling to the familiar or what we know, in order to evolve we must let go of child like ignorance and the desire for wanting things now. Learn patience, trust in the universe, and leave the what no longer serves us, behind." -NT

The Healer and the Tiger
The Healer and the Tiger is a painting depicting the power of manifestation. The woman with flowers in her hair, is a reiki healer. As she mediates she remains calm through the storm.
She is painted here as a self- portrait of myself, and embodies my aunt Cynthia Prieto (San Juan, Puerto Rico).
The pomegranate resting in her hands, is the womb. The seeds of the new woman.
The female manifesting out of the water Nerieda. The full-bodied woman. The white dove over her crown is representational of the Holy Spirit, a dove washing over her.
Here the Tiger here is symbolic of Trust, and a past re-incarnation, and is her point of concentration.
The little yellow bird representational of her Solar Plexus, the emotional center beneath the naval, and reminding her of greatest story.
It is important to know that our sense of self rests beneath the naval, and that is why it is so important to breathe from here.
Nature is nurture here, as this painting embodies the natural healing process.

The canvas for this painting originated as a design collaboration between myself, Jeremy Goodfellow, Katelyn Lewis, and Melissa Cuje in 2012. The background began under my direction as an exploration of pattern, and initially was a horizontal painting, consisting of the bright green pattern, a purple wave, and an octopus.
In 2015, the piece began to vibrate. As I flipped the canvas to a verticle composition, the face emerged.
The face (or mask) is symbolic of the illusion of self. The eyes are placed in the hands as a symbol of trusting the heart.
The throat is depicted as a vibrant blue rose.
The experience of letting go is a lucid process that occurs during meditation. This painting serves as a visual starting point for that process.
